The Essence Of Oils

In recent years there has been an influx of oil-based products into every sector of the marketplace, from skincare to foods to haircare, it seems oils have become an absolute essential for every day life.

What is it about oils that make them so beneficial to hair?

Mother Nature provides us with an abundance of goodies, and it would appear that oils, extracted from key plants, fruits, nuts and seeds offer extra special qualities.

Extracting oils makes for a more intense and beneficial result when used on hair, simply because the ‘extract’ is more refined and more concentrated, making the effects and benefits much more noticeable.

Interestingly enough, the blends of oils and the difference between them make for a bewildering array of products available now.

Here at Cheynes we use products from Wella Professionals, Paul Mitchell and Moroccan Oil which have all been developed to look after different hair types. Each brand uses a selection of oils that help nourish, repair and regenerate hair.

Some of the oils featured in the products we use in salon and recommend for home care are:

  1. Argan oil, often referred to as ‘Miracle Oil’ or ‘Liquid Gold’ is known for its nourishing and conditioning properties for the hair, skin and nails, and can be used on most hair types.

  1. Almond oil is lightweight, has excellent hydrating properties and helps protect the hair structure.

  1. Jojoba oil is known for its care factor and the ability to protect fragile hair, especially the ends that are prone to splitting.
